Some Info About Me
Hello! My name's Dave, I'm 29 and I'm a web designer residing in the United Kingdom. More specifically, the pleasently sunny county of Essex. Really, we do get some sunshine here in good old Blighty - honest!
Some History
Since taking the normal middle England schooling route, I went to college where I first discovered the wonderful world of the Internet. Since my first Yahoo! chatroom encounter having a natter with someone from Australia, I was hooked! Such an instant connection made to a distant but friendly stranger over the other side of the planet blew my tiny little mind and it was all just one crackly modem call away! Focusing on dabbling with HTML, once it was time to choose my University of choice, I plummed for Anglia Polytechnic University (Now Anglia Ruskin University) and decided to take on the Multimedia Systems course, where I tried out many different areas, from Web Design to 3D Graphics and Animation. Yes, it really was as fun as it sounds!
Career so far...
After graduating, I decided to focus on Web Design, as it seemed the whole world was going online. Over the past 4 years I have worked as a web developer in local government, as a web/graphic designer at a document solutions firm, and have 2 years experience working in London for a busy online web agency. I design and build accessible websites using XHTML and CSS. I am proficient in designing and building templates for Wordpress. I also dabble with PHP and JQuery. Flash animation is also a skill I enjoy and have created many online advertising banners, as well as flash walk throughs and presentations.
What do I get up to in my spare time?
Outside of work, the last year has seen me break new ground and one thumb bone, fully healed! I am now a snowboaring stereotype of the online universe and enjoy nothing more than throwing myself down mountains strapped to a snowboard once a year in the French Alps. Hurrah! I also enjoy playing tennis, reading, writing, (Hoping to be one of them fully fledged published writer bods sometime in my life. Very long term goal that one!) and all the usual gubbins like watching films and Top Gear.
